We're heading home to Nice today, arriving tomorrow afternoon. I'm not able to string too many thoughts together. It was really great to see everybody and to meet some new people and everyone was so great and helpful and fun. My family kept me sane. I only wish we could have spent more time with them.
More on the journey later. Only comments so far are:
During airport travel milk the baby thing as much as possible. It's even better if your baby is limp with fever. We skipped ALL lines at security and customs in order to make tight connections.
Jetlag + sick baby totally sucks. Nothing prepared me for this and I spend most nights awake at least part of the time, and had to cope with a baby with no routine at all....it was like the early days where I could only try to do a little sleep, eat, play thing. It made doing things with my family definitely tricky and there was more than one night when I went to bed at seven thirty just as social activities were starting with the others.
He's better now, although he never slept through the night. I don't really know what to expect on the reentry but I'm sure we'll have another week of jetlag going the reverse way. Luckily, his illness is mostly gone although now E and I have it -- we'll be fortified with sudafed for the trip.
