We went to Italy over the weekend to do a little eating and a lot of drinking. Boo had a big adventure too in that he face-planted not once, but twice in a 24-hour period making us look like abusive parents to passers-by.
A friend warned me that as soon as Boo became "ambulatory" (his word) that I could expect at least one ER visit. So far, we've been careful and lucky. We didn't go overboard with child-proofing our home. When he falls on the tile, it hurts, but oh well. 2 seconds later and he's off. The first fall this weekend occurred in small village in the ligurian alps when he decided to take off and run downhill. Gravity did it's deed and down he went - he basically has road rash on his face.
The second happend the following afternoon when he was at the playground and jumped out of the swing while he was in mid-air. Gravity, again.

As a mom of 2 young boys (5 and nearly 8), I've lost count of the number of times gravity has won. I wish I had words of comfort for you, but all I can say is "hold on, it's going to be a bumpy ride". Oh, and it gets better... Just wait until he can say, "Watch this mom!"

Oh look at that perfect little boy face!! It can be quite painful (for both small boys and mummys) to learn about gravity.

Don't worry it doesn't look like abuse. Anyone who's ever been around kids knows it's just plain old, pure boy energy. Now he looks tough. ;)
