I realized it must be vacation season because the nightly news has started doing lurid stories of vacation disasters (drownings, car crashes, fires, etc.).
We're off for our long 3-week holiday. It's a real french holiday - we'll be driving across the country with a car full of gear on a crowded and hot motorway to spend it in the bucolic quiet of rural central Pyrenees at the family homestead.
