Who is MiF?
I am a Mom living in France. I am American, married to a Frenchman, and as of this post we have a 5-month old son. We live near Nice.
I am not a professional writer, chef, artist or expert of anything. However, I like to read, cook, & create. Occassionally I get outdoors.
Why this Blog?
Reason #1: I can't even remember my name, much less yesterday....
Boo (not his real name) turns 5 months old next week. I watched Jeff Scher's animated video "You Won't Remember This" (sorry, must be a TimesSelect subscriber) and realized that not only will Boo not remember this amazing time in his life, but as a parent I feel like my memories don't have time to form: Parenting is always in the NOW. Each 24-hours is not only completely new for him, but for me as well. (Side note: I'd love to see a "24" series based not on geopolitics and terrorism, but life with a newborn.)
So part of writing this blog is to be able to reflect a little on Boo's childhood and my life as a parent.
Reason #2: How much is 2.9 kilo in pounds? (Answer: 6 pounds 6 ounces)
I've often thought about writing a blog about living abroad, but never seemed to get around to it. With the pregancy and birth of Boo, I was introduced to a whole part of French culture I hadn't seen before. From measurements, bilingual birth announcement, official health procedures, and family traditions, having a child in France adds a dimension to parenting that is both frustrating and enriching and it's these experiences that I will share.
Also, look for occassional posts about current events, travel that we do, food that we eat.
For now I plan on posting once a week on the weekends.
Comments welcome & desired but of course I'll delete nasty ones.
